This Petit Verdot has it all—aromas of blackcurrant and violet lead into a rich, barrel-driven palate layered with woody tobacco, dark chocolate, and a distinct mineral earthiness. The influence of oak imparts depth and spice, while firm yet polished tannins create a bold, lingering finish. A wine of intensity and elegance, built to age beautifully.

Planted along the southern bank of the Arroyo Mocho Creek, our Ranch Creek Vineyard has well-drained gravelly silt loam derived from river sediments. Here, the vines are naturally stressed from the gravelly loam that encourages deep root growth resulting in complex flavor development in the fruit. The vineyard's north-south orientation allows the vines to savor hours of warm sunshine during the long growing season as well as the cooling evening breezes from the San Francisco Bay.
The growing season was consistent and mild. Signs pointed to an early harvest until a late August/ early September heat wave pushed ripening in some blocks, resulting in a quickened harvest pace. But September rain brought a sigh of relief, refreshing the vines and allowing more hang time for the remaining grapes. Overall, the result was concentrated and flavorful fruit, creating great acid balance.
