A true standout from the Mother Vine. Bright raspberry and red currant lead into layers of dark chocolate and toasted vanilla, supported by fine-grained tannins and a long, elegant finish. Beautiful now, with exceptional aging potential ahead.

These grapes come from our Mother Vine Vineyard and Block 7, planted to Clone 7 Cabernet Sauvignon. This historic site is where Jim Concannon established the first Concannon Clone 7 vines between 1970 and 1974. The deep, gravelly soils here promote low to moderate vigor, yielding fruit of remarkable richness and concentration. With rapid drainage encouraging deep root growth, the vines draw water and nutrients from fertile subsoils, while cooling evening breezes from the San Francisco Bay further enhance the vineyard's distinctive growing conditions.
The vintage was marked by abundant rains that nourished the soils before a cooler spring and summer created a long growing season. The grapes matured at a slow and steady pace, until many varietals ripened simultaneously, prompting a compressed harvest that kicked off on September 13th, the latest start we've seen since 2011. One of the finest vintages in years, 2023 yielded superb fruit with great flavors along with concentrated and balanced acids at lower sugar levels.
