The palate is greeted by vibrant fruit flavors, where blueberry, black cherry, and plum take center stage, courtesy of the Petite Sirah. The Cabernet Sauvignon lends a round mouthfeel and contributes firm tannins to the blend. Layers of mocha and vanilla add depth and complexity to this exquisite wine.

The Cabernet fruit came from our Estate Block 7 vineyard. The deep, gravelly soils in this vineyard promote low to moderate vigor, encouraging the vines to produce rich, concentrated fruit. Water drains quickly in this soil which compels deep root growth for accessing water and nutrients found in the rich subsoils below. The Petite Sirah is from our Heritage Block 1 Vineyard with head-trained vines.
After a dry winter, the 2020 growing season began with typical temperatures and normal timing for bud break and flowering. As summer progressed, there were a couple heat waves and experienced poor air quality from the Complex Fires during the fall months. Fortunately, the smoke wasn't heavy enough in Livermore Valley to impact our grapes. The quality fruit produced balanced wines with great acidity, although the yields were slightly below average.
