A classic representation of Petite Sirah, this wine starts with a beautiful, deep-colored inky hue. With a swirl, dense notes of black cherry, blackcurrant, and plum jump from the glass, followed by dark cocoa and allspice. Full-bodied with strong tannins and a supple finish.

The grapes that make up this Petite Sirah come from our Block 1 Heritage Vineyard on the right of our winery entrance. This special vineyard is where our Petite Sirah story really begins. This vineyard was first planted in 1884, when James Concannon brought Petite Sirah to Livermore from Montpellier nursery in France. These old vines sit on a gravelly, well-drained alluvial plain that has proven, year after year, to be just right for growing Petite Sirah with real depth and character. The head-trained vines are planted in traditional 6' x 6' rows and enjoy plenty of sunshine during the day, followed by cooling Pacific breezes in the evening. That steady rhythm helps the grapes ripen slowly, building rich flavor while holding on to balance and freshness. It is a special place, and you can taste that history and sense of place in every glass.
Seasonable warm temperatures and cool nights led to a long growing season for 2018. The Livermore Valley did not see any late rains which allowed our winemaking team to let the fruit hang and mature slowly. This produced beautifully ripe fruit with intense rich flavor concentration. 2018 is sure to be a vintage to remember.
