This vintage of Mother Vine Cabernet Sauvignon reveals a captivating bouquet where dark chocolate and mocha intertwine with bright red cherry, cranberry, and blackberry notes. On the palate, these flavors persist alongside cinnamon and toasted vanilla, framed by a soft mouthfeel and evolving tertiary complexity. Its bright acidity and structured tannins lead into a velvety finish, hinting at the wine’s exceptional aging potential.

These grapes come from our Mother Vine Vineyard and Block 7, planted to Clone 7 Cabernet Sauvignon. This historic site is where Jim Concannon established the first Concannon Clone 7 vines between 1970 and 1974. The deep, gravelly soils here promote low to moderate vigor, yielding fruit of remarkable richness and concentration. With rapid drainage encouraging deep root growth, the vines draw water and nutrients from fertile subsoils, while cooling evening breezes from the San Francisco Bay further enhance the vineyard's distinctive growing conditions.
The growing season was consistent and mild. Signs pointed to an early harvest until a late August/ early September heat wave pushed ripening in some blocks, resulting in a quickened harvest pace. But September rain brought a sigh of relief, refreshing the vines and allowing more hang time for the remaining grapes. Overall, the result was concentrated and flavorful fruit, creating great acid balance.
