This Merlot is all about balance and depth. Aromas of ripe plum, black cherry, and baking spice rise from the glass, leading into a smooth palate layered with raspberry and soft mocha. Gentle tannins give it just enough structure, and a hint of cocoa and toasted oak carries through the finish. Easy to enjoy, easy to share, and built for the table.

The Merlot is sourced from Block 17 along the southern bank of Arroyo Mocho Creek, where gravelly, well-drained soils have long drawn comparisons to the Médoc in Bordeaux. That natural structure translates beautifully into the wine, bringing polish, balance, and a timeless sense of restraint. The Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Block 7, planted to our historic Clone 7. This is the very site where Jim Concannon established the first Concannon Clone 7 vines between 1970 and 1974. Deep gravel soils encourage low to moderate vine vigor, producing fruit with richness and concentration. Excellent drainage supports deep root systems, while cool evening breezes from the San Francisco Bay help preserve balance and freshness throughout the growing season.
The vintage began with generous winter rains that replenished the soils, followed by a cooler spring and summer that extended the growing season. The long, steady ripening allowed the fruit to develop excellent flavor while maintaining natural balance and freshness. 2023 delivered beautifully structured fruit with vibrant character, balanced acidity, and moderate sugar levels, making it one of the most memorable vintages in recent years.
